Take A Stand is a call to action meant to bring attention to the issue of domestic violence for Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). By taking a stand we intend to remain the community that there are still countless people – victims and survivors, their children, their families, their friends, and their communities – impacted by domestic violence and until all victims and survivors can be heard.

There are many ways to get involved. Jefferson Community College, in collaboration with the Victims Assistance Center of Jefferson County, will be presenting the art exhibition “Beating Hearts: Storied of Domestic Violence.” During this exhibit, service providers from Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties will be discussing what resources are available to victims and survivors in our community. In addition, there will be a remembrance vigil held while the stories from the exhibit are read aloud.

Nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.

We invite you to TAKE A STAND by joining us to raise awareness of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
